36 commercial carrier journal | july 2018 technology Teletrac Navman adds video-based Safety Analytics T eletrac Navman launched a fully integrated Safety Analytics module as part of its Director platform. e new feature combines GPS tracking data, event replays, dashboard camera technology, driver score- cards and analytics. Features of the module, according to the company, include: • An integrated event viewer that lets fleets simultaneously view driving event replays and unsafe behaviors on Google Maps using GPS tracking data and second-by-second dashboard camera video footage; • Front-facing dashboard cameras that continuously record HD quality video footage, with recordings of all events stored in the cloud. In addition to getting a complete picture of events, footage can be used as supporting material in the event of an insurance claim and to protect against driver fault in accidents; • Driver scorecards that track and rank driver improvements over time for personalized training, in combination with event replay and live footage, and to recognize positive driver behaviors; and • Reporting and alerts that measure speeding, harsh braking, erratic cornering and other dangerous behaviors through GPS tracking. It proactively alerts fleet managers and also lets them build dashboards and conduct an in-depth evalua- tion on fleetwide and individual driver safety performance. – Aaron Huff Comdata adds driver payments to Comchek Mobile app F uel card and payment provider Comdata has enabled instant pay functionality on its Com- chek Mobile app, available via iOS and Android. e feature allows brokers and fleets to pay drivers instantly for loads, fuel advances, repairs and other on-road needs, the company said. Comchek Mobile was introduced in 2017 to streamline transactions related to driver payments and loads. Using a Comchek Mobile debit card tied to an iOS- or Android-enabled smartphone app, brokers and carriers can send or receive funds instantly to or from other individuals or businesses within the Comdata network. Once transferred, funds are used via debit card for point-of-sale pur- chases, ATM withdrawals, bank transfers and discounted fuel and hotels at Comdata Proprietary Network locations. e new pay functionality provides fleets using Comchek Mobile a way to fund drivers instantly. A carrier can receive a settlement payment elec- tronically and distribute it to drivers through Comchek Mobile's peer-to- peer transfer function. Comchek Mobile, a peer-to-peer pay- ments system for the trucking industry, now enables instant pay functionality to drivers. • TMW, a provider of software, business intelli- gence and related products for the transporta- tion industry, announced an integration with Registry Monitoring Insurance Services, a pro- vider of carrier onboarding and insurance mon- itoring services. RMIS' compliance management services and technologies will be integrated into the TMW.Suite transportation management software system, allowing TMW clients who are also RMIS customers to monitor carrier insurance information through TMW.Suite and eliminate added compliance management. • TransForce, a provider of workforce-related products for the transportation industry, acquired SafetyServe, a software company and a provider of online safety training courses for companies, government agencies, insurance companies and other organizations; terms were not announced. TransForce said the transaction further expands its product offer- ing in the transportation industry by adding technology-enabled training services. • MiX Telematics, a provider of fleet and asset management systems, rolled out MiX Inte- grate, an application programming interface designed to allow for seamless third-party data integration. The company said the initutive platform provides a bridge between in-house or third-party business systems and telematics data generated by its products. • Mitchell 1 released the latest version of its Manager SE auto repair shop management system, with enhancements designed to streamline the user experience and help in- crease shop efficiency. Version 7.3 updates sev- eral items in workflow processes to help make it quicker and easier for shops to access repair order details and apply additional options. • CarriersEdge, a provider of online training for trucking companies and their employees, in- troduced a course on Workplace Violence and Harassment designed to teach managers and employees how to recognize these behaviors, respond appropriately, protect themselves and help prevent further incidents. The course follows the CarriersEdge model of combining text, visuals, real-world examples and interac- tive features. • Wex, a provider of corporate payment products, announced that it begin issuing and operating Shell's full portfolio of commercial fleet cards Aug. 1 and will provide Shell's commercial fleet customers with full features and functionality. Shell is implementing Wex Spec, Wex's network specification designed to provide fleet managers with better control and visibility when managing fueling transactions. INBRIEF
