CHANGING LANES
Most fans depend on broadcasts to catch their
favorite racing series. They'll discover some channel
changes this year.

Every January, I mope around the
house because all the Christmas
cookies are gone and there's no
racing on TV. But the fact is, there's
plenty of racing this time of the year.
It's just that most of it is behind the
scenes.
The best example is the annual
winter scramble by the TV networks
to get ready for the upcoming
season.
You and I might not notice anything
materially different when we tune into
the Daytona 500 next month, but
Fox and NASCAR have signed a new
eight-year deal worth $2.4 billion.
Fox and its Speed Channel will pay
NASCAR 33 percent more per year
– going from more than $200 million
per year for this year and next to
about $300 million per year from
2015 through 2022 – for the rights
season.
For all you truckers on the go, the
deal also will allow Fox/Speed to
offer "TV Everywhere" live streaming
