National Catholic Forester 12 The Thanksgiving holiday is almost upon us. It is a me of reflec ng on what we are thankful. Let's celebrate this thankfulness by doing good works and giving back. A great example of this is Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday is a na onal day of giving known on social media as #GivingTuesday. This special day began in 2012 as a response to the commercializa on and consumerism we experience in the post-Thanksgiving season. It takes place each year on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday encourages people to get involved and give back to their community as the year ends. The day is also intended to signify the kickoff to the charitable giving season surrounding Christmas. Of course you, our membership and courts, give back year-round with NCSF! Na onal Catholic Society of Foresters takes great pride in our courts and their work within local communi es. We strongly encourage all our members to par cipate in some way. Giving back is our mission. You are investors; invest in your community. Inves gate community and local organiza ons that may need assistance during the holiday season and help. Search for organiza ons doing something for Giving Tuesday, or create your own event. We thank you for the investment of your me, and your con nued dedica on in helping the communi es where you live and work. NCSF would also like to thank you for all of the financial gi s given to churches, schools, and community organiza ons. Moving forward, expect more communica on and more outreach and engagement from NCSF. Together we can partner and collaborate to be successful and expect even more posi ve outcomes. There is also so much to look forward to — more program enhancements and more communi es to touch. Join us as we roll up our sleeves. As our CEO Lisa Bickus wrote, in her message on page 4, we are ready to "Build Excellence" within our organiza on. We wish you and your families a boun ful Thanksgiving celebra on.
