Long Montana commutes make for a great opportunity for our youth and their families to listen as they drive to/from school, work, sports, etc. Diocese of Monterey, California The people of the Diocese of Monterey can be considered one of the most diverse with pockets of great affl uence among parishioners who live in great hardship; however all are united in their dedication to the Church. Communication, specifi cally through social media, is the foundation necessary to aid their acute need for connection. The NCSF Diocesan Communication Grant will help the Diocese of Monterey develop online promotions and ads to publicize churches, schools, and events on Facebook, lnstagram, and Twitter. The diocese will also create commercials for their schools who are struggling with enrollment or for parishes whose small fund raisers are their main source of income. Diocese of Sioux City, Iowa The NCSF Diocesan Communication Grant will help the Diocese of Sioux City with the production of Spanish-language postcards, promotional fridge magnets, and paid/boosted Facebook advertisements and posts. The materials will be used to increase enrollment rates in Catholic Schools of Hispanic/ Latina students. This project is also designed to help the Diocese of Sioux City centralize the management and delivery of Spanish-language content communication tools to better serve rural and urban schools. The vast majority of their schools are in rural areas where they lack access to Spanish-language translation services. Now they can deliver consistent, succinct, and accurate communications on the value of a Catholic education with the Hispanic/Latina community. Diocese of Toledo, Ohio Bishop Thomas, from the Diocese of Toledo, hosts a weekly radio program known as "Bishop's Corner" with a very popular question and answer session. Questions have arrived from a 6-year-old child, teenagers, numerous young adults, and the elderly. Both Catholics and non-Catholics are in search of Catholic knowledge to guide them in leading lives of faith that are fruitful. The Diocese of Toledo will create weekly video vignettes of Bishop Thomas's Q & A sessions for use on social media venues like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The NCSF Diocesan Communication Grant will offset the cost of obtaining technical resources necessary to launch this social media project. Diocese of Yakima, Washington Currently the Diocese of Yakima has one local Spanish Catholic radio broadcast, the Divine Mercy Broadcasting out of Wenatchee; the second Catholic radio broadcast out of Yakima originates from California. Bishop Tyson would like to include some of the Washington-based programming on KZTR in Yakima. To accomplish this a codec unit is needed in each location. The purpose of using an audio codec is to effectively reduce the size of an audio fi le without affecting the quality of the sound. The process not only reduces storage space but also decreases the bandwidth requirement for transmission of an audio signal.
