Aquatic therapy is now available at Cox Monett Darren Bass, administrative director of rehab services in Monett, says the new aquatic therapy pool will help a variety of patients. "Patients who can't do land-based exercise because of pain, arthritis, obesity, chronic swelling or an injury are able to do low-impact exercises in this warm water pool," says Darren. Orthopedic patients who have an injury or pain in their spine, low back or neck are also helped with aquatic therapy. Benefits: improved fitness and energy levels, reduced joint stiffness, decreased swelling and strengthening injured tissue. Also athletes can use this pool for performance enhancement exercises. "To me, happiness is getting my energy level up and for me that is through exercise." Margaret's success motivated her husband to participate in classes and programs at CoxHealth Fitness Centers. In the fall they participated in the Just Lose It weight loss challenge together. Margaret and her husband also take the Body Shock class. "Getting involved together has been a jumpstart for me. It's wonderful knowing I have his support," says Margaret, who also enjoys the cardio interval training, group strength and Zumba classes. Margaret says that when she walked through the doors of The Meyer Center she knew things were going to turn around, but didn't know at the time that it would be so wonderful. "Now I feel so strong, and it's wonderful knowing I have all this support," she says. Read her story at coxhealth.com/Margaret. For more information about CoxHealth Fitness Centers, call 269-3282.
