K enworth's new W990, featuring front-end design enhancements, cab upgrades and improved aerodynamics, becomes the latest addition to the venera- ble W900 lineup. "The W900L's not going anywhere, but we're planning for the future, so it's another product to address what your business needs, as well as what drivers expect," says Mike Dozier, Kenworth general manager. The W900 is the longest-running vehicle model in U.S. history, with produc- tion having begun in 1961. The Kenworth W990 is designed to maximize performance in linehaul, pickup-and-delivery, region- al and heavy-haul opera- tions. Available in daycab, 40-inch flat-top and 52-inch and 76-inch mid-roof sleeper configurations, the W990 is standard with a proprietary Paccar powertrain that con- sists of the MX13 engine rated up to 510 hp and 1,850 lb.-ft. of torque, a 12-speed Paccar automated transmis- sion and Paccar's 40K tan- dem rear axles. The NAV+HD 7-inch color in-dash display provides access to features such as truck-specific navigation, roadside assis- tance, vehicle data, hands-free calling, audio controls, blind-spot camera inputs and the internet. Also standard is the Kenworth TruckTech+ remote diagnostics system.
