4 • FEBRUARY 2013 • WORLD FENCE NEWS Contents Editor's Corner New Circuit of the Americas Formula 1 race track considered a minor miracle You don't have to be a die-hard fan of Formula 1 auto racing to have heard of the awesome new Circuit of the Americas track that was constructed in 2012 in Austin, Texas, and is the first purpose-built Formula 1 racetrack in the United States to host its own Grand Prix. The 2012 United States Grand Prix was held Nov. 16-18, and went off with virtually no problems. We were fortunate to take a tour of the site in midsummer with Brad Epstein of Global Fence and Gate from Dallas, whose firm constructed the 6.5 miles of debris fence which is designed to catch flying parts from the A portion of the 6.5 miles of special race cars in the event of an debris fence is seen in the foreground accident (as well as slow as one of the competitors in the 2012 them down as effectively as U.S. Grand Prix flashes past.
