Revs Up
NASCAR got the green flag last month. Now it���s time for Formula 1,
IndyCar, NHRA and American Le Mans drivers to hit their tracks.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup season
kicked off at Daytona a few days ago,
but most of our other major series will
crank up the engines in the next few
weeks. So while we digest the doings
at Daytona, let���s also take a quick look
at what else awaits us.
CHANGING LANES
IndyCar Racing
After introducing new cars and
engines in 2013, last winter should
have been peaceful. Instead, it
turned into the biggest melodrama
in motorsports when CEO Randy
Bernard got the boot. He did a decent
job of marketing and promotion, but
apparently the team owners didn���t like
him.

The IndyCar folks are still shaking up
their front of���ce, and whoever winds
up with a chair when the music stops
faces a big job ��� NASCAR is running
much-improved new cars; Formula
1���s return to the United States was
a big success; and the 2014 merger
between the American Le Mans Series
and Rolex Grand-Am Series will give
endurance racing a much-needed
boost.
So good luck, IndyCar ��� you���re
gonna need it!
Fortunately, the open-wheelers are
coming off a pretty good year. The
championship battle was close and
