Networking News Local women and businesses on the move The UW School of Medicine and Public Health presented Gina Green-Harris, a senior outreach specialist for the Wisconsin Alzheimer���s Institute and Center for Urban Population Health, and Jill Boissonault, a faculty member in the physicaltherapy program at UW-Madison, with its first-ever Equity and Diversity Awards. The awards recognize those who study disparities in health care and strive to understand the needs of minority populations. Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center, a nonprofit devoted to victims of child abuse, welcomed several new members to its team including Carrie Sachse-Hofheimer and Charisse Bieniek, as family advocates; Becky Kovalaske as a family advocate intern; Lisa Le Mieux Fisher as office manager; and Mariah Wagner as data coordinator and administrative assistant. Gilda���s Club Madison, a nonprofit offering support services to cancer patients, recently welcomed six new female board members: Mary Blum, Mary Krueger, Kathleen Rezin, Vicky D���Orazio, Joyce Siefering and Nancy Maurer. The American Diabetes Association named Sue Erickson chair of the leadership board for its Wisconsin chapter. As head of the organization, she will partner with communities and physicians to better prevent the disease. 10 The Madison School Board named Jennifer Cheatham as the city���s new school superintendent. As chief of instruction for Chicago Public Schools, Cheatham helped narrow the achievement gap and established updated standards for literacy and math, while being widely recognized as collaborative and knowledgeable on education policy. Cricket Design Works, a visual communications company, recently expanded its team to include Leah Caplan, a well-known local chef. Caplan recently left Metcalf���s Market, where she spent three years as the face of the grocery chain, innovating their culinary offerings and expanding their business. The number of Wisconsin Women���s Policy Institute fellows named this year by the Wisconsin Women���s Network. The fellows���including Madisonians Jill Kranz, Tara Pray and Diane Walder���will be trained to advocate for the state���s senior citizens.
