for the City
of Lake Saint Louis (a bedroom community of
~15,000), I wear several different hats; one of which is
working with the Tree Board to put together an engaging Arbor Day celebration. We've had two-man saw
competitions, live performances, and esteemed speakers from Davey Tree, Missouri Botanical Gardens, and
the Missouri Department of Conservation. Typically,
Smokey Bear is in attendance along with Limby (a 24inch/61 cm-DBH white oak), grade school choirs, and
all the local politicians.
In 2009 we received the Midwest ISA Gold Leaf
Award for our Arbor Day program, and we've been
nominated for the Arbor Day Foundation's Arbor Day
Award three times.
The most memorable celebration for me was in 2009
