Thompson teesoff "Alabama's Golf Insider" Thompson teesoff 9.5.19 Dec. 6, 2012 I started this odyssey and today I end it…for now. Thanks, rst and foremost, for your support of Thompson Tees O . Today marks my 331st issue and I've reached a fork in the road, as the saying goes. While I continue to love writing about local and statewide golf, and will continue to to do so in my weekly Mr. Golf column every Monday in the Tusca- loosa News, I'm simply not in a position to continue TTO at the present time. They say all great things come to an end. But to me, this is not an end, simply a stopping point as I look to re-tool TTO and come back stronger. To you, my readers, my subscribers, my advertisers and my supporters, I say thank you. It is not without a tear in my eye that I say goodbye for now, but not farewell. As many of you know, I got my start in writ- ing about golf way back in 1992 when I was still a wide-eyed student at Samford University. I'd moved to Birmingham three years earlier in 1989 from Wimborne in Dorset in England to play on Samford's golf team and ended up studying jour- nalism. I'm proud to say that I've continued to use my Journalism and Mass Communications degree each and every day for the last 26 years and counting. teesoff Issue No. 331 I began with Bill Crawford at Links in 1994 (later named Golf- South Magazine), with my golf column in the Birmingham News to follow, lasting 17 years. We rocked along for many years, but times change and I changed with them, thus the evolution of Thompson Tees O . I've authored four books, with the strong hope for more in the not-too-distant future. I will be go- ing into my 10th year of running the Birmingham Golf Association, with a thriving junior golf tour my main focus. I also help my brother Neil run the equally popular Magic City Junior Golf Tour. I also run the GolfSouth Dog ght Points Golf Tour, plus I drive a school bus for Hoover City Schools, and do other work for the school system. But my rst love always has been, and always will be, writing about this great game. Thanks for the memories, with more to be made… Ian This is my fi nal issue… for now
