Chef's Corner Brasserie V By Liz Pelton Photo by Bobbi Petersen Though the menu is rooted in rustic European culinary traditions, Brasserie V is not afraid of change. "It's good to have an evolving menu where you add on new dishes as you go," explains Chef Rob Grisham. But not only does the team at this tavern-style bistro embrace their evershifting menu, they've also brought new changes to the restaurant's bright dining hall. Recently, they completed a building renovation that virtually doubled the size of the bar, dining area and kitchen. The result? Less waiting to snag a spot in this bustling Monroe Street eatery where the warm, wood-dominated interior now spills over to the restaurant's new half. With a more spacious feel it'll be hard not to get comfy as you indulge in a quick slice of artisan cheese or classic Belgian fries and drink (try the popular house brew, St. Bernardus Abt 12) or settle in and stay awhile for a sophisticated, four-course meal. Brasserie V is located at 1923 Monroe St., Madison; (608) 255-8500 or brasseriev.com. IMPERIAL GARDEN CHINESE RESTAURANT 238-6445 Cheers!
