I DA U N I V E R S A L N ove m b e r - D e ce m b e r 2 0 1 9 4 EDITOR'S NOTES Nancy Estes, MBA, CAE Executive Director/Editor 2019 A bout 2019, it must be said that the IDA convention was held at one of the best sites. Boston is a beautiful city, with tons of activities within walking distance and views of the water. Once again our meeting gave us the opportunity to join together. e main objectives of the convention were done, (1) electing the new Directors, (2) passing the bylaw change, (one of the most monumental changes in the history of IDA), (3) adding yet another group of memories: from laughter, to debates to watching whales, and (4) sharing knowl- edge to grow and prosper the attending companies. 2020 must be a year in which IDA has to make great strides, starting with: promoting our association! One member sent in 10 names of companies to be invited to membership last year....why does the IDA offi ce not hear from anyone else? e coming year holds the promise of new opportunities, along with big challenges. Let's double the member numbers. As the IDA President, Paul Bonovich presents in this issue, 3 very active committees are working vigorously. Indeed this association is at a crossroads. e industry, the members, the generations and the world has changed dramatically and the IDA members have to pull all their work, collaboration and imagination to re-invent the Independent Distributors Association. You need to know, the Board is striving to gather new ideas from everyone. IDA is so lucky to have each of you as part of this wonderful group. IDA has a strong commit- ment to you. e IDA Member Directory is built to be a good resource all year. e 2020 Direc- tory confi rmation forms have been sent to all of you. Please include a description of your company; and help us reinforce the newest section that list companies by their Specialty. IDA tries to support members by partnering with strong companies to bring you useful services. See them listed on page 5 of this magazine. I fi nd myself refl ecting on the past 23 years and on those who have supported and helped shape this Association. e camaraderie and strength I have watched between the IDA members has been awesome. I treasure the times I have spent with many of you. Here's wishing you much laughter, great food, and good health for you, your family and friends. My best to you and yours, Nancy Estes
