The smaller companies need to be convinced that everyone is needed. All sizes from all countries. Everyone has a perspective or business opportunity that someone else needs - EVERYONE! Although most of you have heard this "pump story" (perhaps many times), did you notice the second part of the parable? "Fill the jar and put it back as you found it for the next stranger." Someone once questioned a board member, Mr. Bob Creighton of Creighton Rock and Drill/ Canada: "The IDA does not pay a Board member a salary or even reimburse the travel and time to attend the meetings. What do you get out of it?" Without hesitation, Bob said "this industry has given so much to me and my family business for years. "Now, I want to give something back." This has been the most amazing characteristic of the IDA members, to me. They believe what goes around, comes around. In other words, you help each other, and we all benefit. Perhaps your company is doing well and you believe you do not need IDA. May I ask, "When you started, did you not get advice, tips, training or funding from others?"
