DRINKS Versatile Vodka Cocktails Inventive recipes incorporating the world's most-consumed spirit THE WHITE COSMO The mixologists at db Bistro Moderne in Miami created this recipe 2 oz. Vodka 1 oz. St. Germain elderflower liqueur 1 oz. Lime juice 1 oz. White cranberry juice 1 Orchid or other edible flower as garnish Shake all the ingredients together with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with an ice ball with an orchid or other edible flower frozen in its center. PURPLE CUE Phoenix, AZ-based mixologist Luke Detraz submitted this recipe 2 oz. Square One Cucumber vodka ½ oz. Fresh lemon juice 1 oz. Prickly Pear puree ½ oz. Agave nectar 1 Egg white Combine all ingredients. Shake well for 30 seconds and strain into Martini glass. Garnish with cucumber round. HARDLY WALLBANGER Eric Johnson of San Diego's new cocktail lounge Sycamore Den created this drink recipe 1 ½ oz. Vodka 1 oz. Galliano ½ oz. Fresh lemon juice 2 oz. Fresh orange juice ¼ oz. Simple syrup 2 Dashes of vanilla extract Combine ingredients in a Collins glass with ice. Top with soda. Garnish with orange wheel and cherry. 50 | MAY 2013 THE PINK FIESTA The mixolgists at Belvedere vodka created this recipe 1 ½ oz. Belvedere vodka ½ oz. Almond syrup ½ oz. Lemon juice 1 oz. Pink grapefruit juice Fever Tree tonic Shake and pour over ice. Top with Fever Tree tonic. Garnish with a pink grapefruit wedge. MIDNIGHT SUN The mixologists at Prandial in New York developed this recipe ½ oz. Karlsson's Gold vodka ½ oz. St. Germain elderflower liqueur ½ oz. Lemon juice ½ oz. Simple syrup Shake ingredients well with ice. Strain over ice into a highball glass and garnish with a lemon. CREAMY SALTED CARAMEL Vicki Honerkamp, head bartender and wine steward for Jakes Atop the Midnight Star in Deadwood, SD, created this cocktail 1 ½ oz. Player's Extreme Caramelinfused vodka ½ oz. Dekuyper's Buttershots ½ oz. Bailey's Irish Cream Kosher salt Caramel sauce Salt the rim of a cocktail glass with kosher salt and tap off the excess. Swirl a ribbon of caramel sauce around the inside of the glass. Pour the Player's Extreme Caramel infused vodka, Dekuyper's Buttershots,and Bailey's into a shaker full of ice and shake well. Strain into prepared glass. NAPA VALLEY Phoenix, AZ-based mixologist Luke Detraz created this recipe 2 oz. Grey Goose Cherry Noir 1 ¼ oz. Pomegranate juice ¾ oz. Grape juice ½ oz. Charred lemon juice 1 oz. Merlot simple syrup Combined all ingredients. Shake well and strain over ice and garnish with a grape. MANGO CHILLI CAIPIROSKA The mixologists at Prime 112 in Miami Beach created this recipe 1 ½ oz. Ultimat vodka 2 Muddled lime wedges Splash of fresh mango puree Splash of simple syrup 3-4 Drops sariacha Shaken with ice and serve in a highball glass. Garnish with a lime wedge. Call for Recipes!
