Interpretive exhibits explain the high alpine environment, and a hiking trail leads to the summit of the mountain. Lunch will be enjoyed before traveling down the mountain. The tour travels the Icefields Parkway between Jasper and Banff to one of the six principal "toes" of the Columbia Icefields, the Athabasca Glacier. Specially designed snow coaches transport travelers over the steep grades, snow and ice (some over 400 years old). Attendees are invited to walk on the glacier (300 to 980 feet thick). The day ends with dinner and a night's stay at a majestic, inspiring, pristine chateau nestled in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Standing stately on the shores of a glacier lake, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is a diamond in the wilderness. WEDNESDAY, OCT 9 – GOLF TOURNAMENT and OPENING RECEPTION After breakfast, early tour bus will leave for Banff Springs to assure timely arrival at the tournament. A second bus will bring the rest of the group at a more leisurely pace to enjoy Lake Louise. The tour will start early Monday morning. Plan your departure after convention from Calgary. Banff is 250 miles from Edmonton. CONVENTION ONLY Arrive in Calgary airport (YYC).
