Jasper Tram and Colombia Ice Fields Tour
The Jasper Tramway whisks attendees up Whistler's Mountain to an elevation of
2,277 meters (7,472 feet) for stunning vistas over mountain ranges stretching up to 80 km
away. Interpretive exhibits explain the high alpine environment, and a hiking trail leads to
the summit of the mountain. Lunch will be enjoyed before traveling down the mountain.
The tour travels the Icefields Parkway between Jasper and Banff to one of the six
principal "toes" of the Columbia Icefields, the Athabasca Glacier. Specially designed snow
coaches transport travelers over the steep grades, snow and ice (some over 400 years old).
Attendees are invited to walk on the glacier (300 to 980 feet thick).
The day ends with dinner and a night's stay at a majestic, inspiring, pristine
chateau nestled in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Standing stately on the shores of
a glacier lake, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is a diamond in the wilderness.
