— ADVERTISEMENT — Spokane's Angel Spell sees a Unique Need for a Tree Inventory The City of Spokane, Wa. got a tremendous boost to their urban forestry program when they secured funding for a tree inventory in 2012, completed by Davey Resource Group. The City's urban forester, Angel Spell, was instrumental in this achievement because she recognized and communicated how the inventory data would be valuable to the whole City, not just her department. Let's discuss at your convenience. Angel Spell Client: Sounds great! I'm glad I connected with Davey Resource Group! Send Photo courtesy Jesse Tinsley – Spokane Review A student of environmental sciences, Angel first engaged her passion for urban forestry by analyzing a tree inventory in Yakima, Wa. for her master's thesis. This research helped her develop a deeper understanding of the partnerships that are needed when managing an urban forest. In 2010, she was invited to work for the City of Spokane. She knew that to be effective in Spokane, she would need a complete inventory of all the public trees. Fortunately for Angel and her staff, the entire City government had similar interest in Spokane's environmental stewardship practices. Knowing that trees play a significant role in reducing stormwater runoff, urban forestry staff aligned their values with those of key stakeholders concerned with water quality for the Spokane River. This alignment, along with neighborhood group advocacy, allowed Angel to gain financial backing for the inventory and make it part of Spokane Mayor David Condon's Integrated Clean Water Plan. Davey Resource Group was proud to provide Angel with expert inventory services that help the City and citizens of Spokane achieve their goals. www.urban-forestry.com TECHNOLOGY MAY CHANGE, BUT CLIENT SERVICE SHOULDN'T Solutions through Innovation and Expertise 800.828.8312 www.daveyresourcegroup.com info@davey.com 11
