Scene at: Dr. Konstantin Frank 2012 Dry Riesling wins Sweepstakes eading wine professionals from across the United States gathered in Santa Rosa, Calif., to judge the 2013 U.S. National Wine Competition (USNWC), organized by Vineyard & Winery Management. The event was held April 9-10 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. The Dr. Konstantin Frank 2012 Dry Riesling, from New York's Finger Lakes region, won the competition's top prize. Now in its second year, the USNWC was created to celebrate the diversity of grape varieties grown in the U.S., including natives, hybrids and vinifera. Judges awarded a total of nine double-gold medals, 65 gold medals, 226 silver medals, 184 bronze medals and 22 Best of Class medals.
