CoxHealth is the first hospital in southwest Missouri to perform a gallbladder removal using single site robotic surgery. Dr. John Buckner and Dr. Timothy Woods, general surgeons, perform this surgery. According to Dr. Buckner, the procedure requires a small, one-inch incision in the belly button, which leaves virtually no scar. Benefits can include minimal pain, low blood loss, quick recovery and a short hospital stay. "Someone is a candidate for gallbladder removal if they have a dysfunctional gallbladder or gall stones that are causing pain, nausea, vomiting and not being able to eat certain foods," explains Dr. Buckner. He says gallbladder problems can occur at any age. Dr. John Buckner views a magnified 3D image during robotic surgery. I lost 211 pounds. I found my energy!
