Play It Safe documented on a standardized form, and any areas of concern discussed with the committee. Assign to qualified personnel the correction of any noted hazards and establish a time frame for completion. n Address any new business items that should be conveyed to the team. n Create a safety theme or topic that will be reviewed and discussed during the course of the next month – Topic examples can include safe driving practices, fire prevention, proper lifting techniques, wearing the proper protective equipment, etc. This will help keep the interest in safety alive and well within your organization. Consistency is critical when organizing and executing an effective safety committee. Following the methodology above will give you a great start, but don't be afraid to make the process your own. Also, the committee can recognize dealership employees who make the extra effort to help improve overall safety and take ownership to solve challenges or mitigate workplace hazards. These efforts should always be acknowledged! n This document is made available by Sentry Insurance a Mutual Company and its subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively "SIAMCO") with the understanding that SIAMCO is not engaged in the practice of law, nor is it rendering legal advice.
