With Me Renee Moe A career dedicated to giving back If you ask Renee Moe what her top priority is in life, the mother of two is quick with an answer many would relate to: family. Also high on Moe's list is doing her part to look out for Madison. Juggling the roles of vice president of the United Way of Dane County, president of the Rotary Club of Madison and Mom, many wonder how (and why) she does it all. "It was either [do it all] now when the kids are smaller and they can still come along with my husband and me, or do it all in five years, when we'd be on their schedule," Moe explains. Moe, who has a dual degree in journalism and Mandarin Chinese, dove right into her passions after college. Starting at the bottom as an intern at the United Way, a nonprofit that mobilizes programs and volunteers for a slew of local causes, Moe successfully scaled the career ladder to eventually become the organization's Veep. Years later, Moe was drawn to Rotary, another humanitarian service group (celebrating its 100th anniversary this year), and recently became the organization's eighth female and first nonwhite president. "It's really a special group. Regardless of your political affiliation, your age, your gender, your race, it's a place where people come because they're motivated by 'service above self,'" she explains. From scholarships to disease prevention and blood drives, Rotary has its fingers in a number of projects to improve life for Link Up Madisonians. As for the future, With Rotary! Moe predicts the importance Connect with business of community philanthropy owners and learn about and organizations like the diverse business topics United Way and Rotary will at the Rotary Business continue for centuries.
