machine matters | continued Roundup 3CX 450F CATERPILLAR JCB The 3CX Super backhoes by JCB are powered by 91- and 109-horsepower Tier 4 Interim Ecomax engines and a 44gpm variable flow hydraulic pump. The pump, by matching hydraulic flow and pressure to machine demands, offers up to 6 percent fuel efficiency, reduced noise levels and up to 30 percent faster cycle times. The 3CX retains the EcoDig feature, which gives the backhoe end the ability to drop engine revs while maintaining a high hydraulic flow rate. The machines offer two additional control options, the Easycontrol, which features two seat-mounted joysticks; and the Advanced Easycontrol, which adds loader controls into the right hand seat controller. For product info, visit jcb.com. The Cat 450F offers 5 percent more gross horsepower than its predecessor 450E, and has an electronically controlled variable-flow main hydraulic pump, resulting in more precise control of machine functions. Sound levels are reduced with the 450F's automatic engine speed control feature, which decreases speed if hydraulic functions are idle. A composite fuel tank reduces condensation and resists rust. In the cab, a redesigned instrument cluster simplifies navigation through system information and control settings. For product info, visit cat.com. TLB840 0.95% interest for 36 months. Low rate. The machine's curved boom backhoe design gives more clearance to reach over obstacles and load closer into trucks. The high-torque slew system gives the backhoe the ability to easily backfill and slew uphill. Key specs include a loading height of 11-foot 3 inches, a 10,485 pound-feet bucket breakout force and a loader lift capacity of 7,291 pound-feet. For product info, visit terex.com.
