the company Volvo Customer's Focus on Fuel Economy CLAUDE ROBERT: PRESIDENT, ROBERT TRANSPORT "In our world today, we are concerned with energy and the environment." Claude Robert, president of Robert Transport in Boucherville, Quebec has been a Volvo customer for more than ten years and says his company is all about fuel efficiency and maximizing the capabilities of available technology. "Fuel economy is everything. We get maximum performance for long distance jobs with the XE 13. There's excellent fuel economy, more than acceptable torque and the right horsepower. It's an engine that runs at 1,000 RPM's and is able to do 8.3 mpg. We work hard to communicate to our drivers 20 that maintaining RPM at the lowest possible ranges gives you the most efficient engine. The Volvo product answers our needs," Robert says. He believes in educating the driver and making him an important part of the company's focus on fuel efficiency. " If we can educate our drivers to understand the capability's of the engine, the tires and all the other components, then it all comes together for great performance. For instance, we drive the speed limit so drivers run steady and don't have to use the brakes as much. Some companies think they are saving time by driving faster, but in the long run, you brake more often." Which is one of the main reasons they have used automatic transmissions since 1998. "We save more money than people can imagine by using automatic transmissions. We have experienced the Volvo I-Shift and know it's a product that's fun to drive and we love it," Robert says.
