Continental updates regional steer, drive tires Continental Tire has on display at its booth (#18136) improved heavy steer regional and heavy drive regional tires that the company says decrease rolling resistance by 20 percent. The tires are available in size 225/70R19.5 and improve mileage over the former models, says Continental's Libor Heger, director of truck technology. The updates to the tires help truck makers meet 2014 Environmental Protection Agency greenhouse gas emissions standards and fuel efficiency standards, Continental says, while also helping improve ride and handling characteristics. The HSR tire has a speed rating of "N" for "optimum handling at highway speeds," Continental says, and the tire has a tread depth of 16/32nds of an inch. The tire has a closed shoulder tread pattern for even wear and reduced noise and a scuff rib to protect against curbing, cuts and abrasions. The HDR tire also has a speed rating of "N." It has a tread depth of 18/32nds of an inch and an open shoulder tread pattern with tie-bar to offer even tread wear and reduced noise. It also helps improve traction. The aggressive tread design helps increase stability and performance in wet conditions, Continental says. Visit Booth #18136 for more information.
