D'Uva, CAE, MBA became the President of The Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals in Business (SOCAP) International. SOCAP International was established in 1973 to help shape the business community's response to changing consumer needs and expectations. The Council of Better Business Bureaus (CBBB) played a major role in the formation of SOCAP. The CBBB authorized aid for the creation of a consumer relations group and sent a mailing to Fortune 500 companies asking for information on consumer affairs and the name of the person responsible for that function. SOCAP has produced studies, conference programming, magazine articles and website materials reflecting the latest trends in consumer affairs—including the increased focus on customer care, customer loyalty and retention, contact center management, globalization, sourcing strategies and technological developments.
