President's Perspective As I write this column, the dog days of summer are winding down. Webster defines the dog days of summer as "the period between early July and early September when the hot sultry weather of summer usually occurs" or as "a period of stagnation or inactivity." For many of us, the "dog days" have been anything but stagnate. Annual Membership Conferences, strategic planning meetings, legislative planning and budget preparations are just a few of the activities that many of us have been conducting within our own associations. I know for me personally, I am looking forward to a little down time this fall and attending the MSAE-LSAE Joint Conference as we "Jazz up the Big Easy"-- October 14-16, 2013, at Harrah's Hotel & Casino in New Orleans. This year LSAE is taking the lead in planning the conference, and they have put together a great schedule of speakers and activities. And remember, perhaps the best time for an evening stroll in the French Quarter is during the cool autumn air of October! I want to congratulate the members of MSAE who are participating in the CAE Study Group. As a past participant of this group, I can attest to the fact that participating in this study group is a great learning experience whether you plan to take the exam or not. If you would like to join the group, please contact Amy for the schedule. Mark your calendar to attend the remaining Lunch & Learns scheduled for September 18th & November 19th. These lunch meetings always provide excellent information and a great opportunity for networking and catching up with your fellow executives and industry partners. U KNOW?
