Our Library of the Future Inspiring, bold and built with green features in mind, Madison's new Central Library is more than a place to simply borrow books. By Kelsey BEwick Boasting an eye-catching exterior, bright interior filled with natural light, ingenious energy-saving additions, ample group gathering spots, tons of ogle-worthy art, and, of course, an expansive collection of books, the new Central Library is a model for libraries of the future and aims to be everything you need—and more. "It demonstrates how books and technology and art and the concept of community can all come together to make what is truly a great downtown library," says Jenni Collins, Madison Public Library Foundation executive director. "We want people to think of the library as a third space—it's not their home, it's not their office, but it's a place they can work or meet with friends or conduct business," says Collins. 66 brava magazine | OCTOBER 2013
