KARI ARNETT A singer since she was 2, Madison-based singer and songwriter Arnett taught herself to play piano at age 6, picked up a guitar when she was 13, and started writing her own songs as a teenager. Since then, she's brought her acoustic, soul-infused sounds to fans throughout Wisconsin. Arnett, known for her provocative lyrics and catchy melodies, captures crowds with her striking voice and mixed pop and folk-rock musical styling. MEGAN BOBO Bobo launched herself onto the Hollywood music scene in 2006 with a strong voice and a spot on American Idol's Top 25. That mainstream success led to appearances at famed music venues and award shows in Los Angeles, where she was nominated for "Best Female Vocalist" at the L.A. Music Awards, SouthBay Music Awards and RockCity Awards. In 2010, Bobo recorded and released a positively received self-written rock and soul album. 12 BRAVA MAGAZINE | NOVEMBER 2013 LYNDSAY EVANS Evans—a three-time Madison Area Music Awards' Female Vocalist of the Year winner— fronts the mega popular Madison-based pop-rock band Sexy Ester. A dynamic performer who commands the stage, Evans has been belting out her powerhouse vocals since the days of high school musicals. She can be spotted dancing and even rolling around on stage with performances throughout Madison. Her band's latest album plays on college radio stations across the country. KELLY JACKSON Jackson is many things: an Ojibwe woman, a member of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, a preservation and intergovernmental affairs professional, a mother, a producer, a songwriter since her early childhood days, and a singer who's been performing since the '90s. Jackson, who released her first album, "Spirit of a Woman," in 2012, echoes her appreciation for history and culture in her music while commemorating the contributions native women offer their families, communities and professions. From traditionally native to blues and rock music forms, Jackson's music mirrors a diverse range of influences.
