Midland SPD-8 Road Widener The Midland Model SPD-8 Road Widener is designed to place shoulder materials out 8 feet wide next to main line pavements. This machine has proven its ease of use and high productivity to deliver base and hot mix materials to the proper grade and slope both below and above grade. The SPD-8 has been upgraded to accept the John Deere Tier-4 version of the 4.5-liter engine, and controls allow conveyor belt speed and on/off and spreader blade functions from the operator's control panel. The hopper and spreader blade are in full view in front of the operator, with no fatiguing "over-the-shoulder" watching the spreading operations. The SPD-8 easily changes over from right hand spreading to left hand spreading.
