Salvatore's Tomato Pies in Sun Prairie creates locally sourced craft pizza, and Wisconsin Brewing Company in Verona creates craft beer also with local ingredients. With roots from Naples, Italy, Patrick DePula's Tomato Pie cuts no corners and proudly boasts of supporting our economy by using the best local ingredients to recreate this Italian favorite. The slice I paired is the original tomato pie topped with fresh Italian sausage, caramelized shallots, house roasted sweet red peppers and goat cheese. I chose Wisconsin Brewing's Amber Lager to complement this little slice of heaven. With each bite I'm met with the sweet harmonies of the red peppers and homemade sauce blended with the sweet maltiness in the beer. The earthy Williamette Hop flavors in the beer also cut through the creamy goat cheese and left my pallet ready for more!
