22 | Overdrive | March 2014 THE OTR DIGITAL TOOLKIT 12 GetLoaded, getloaded.com, Android, iOS This long-established online-only load board service links carriers with freight via a website and the associated iGetLoaded app. Other services include a partnered factoring company, online forums and business software (see TruckingOffice). A version of the load board is available via Rand McNally's IntelliRoute TND device. Membership packages start at $29.99 monthly after a 10-day free trial. Go By Truck offers drivers referral bonuses for new signups following recommendations. 13 Go By Truck, gobytruck.com Billing itself as "automated freight brokering," this online platform takes 10 percent of every shipper- carrier load transaction. It functions similarly to Freightopolis (see listing) without restrictions on carrier size. It also holds social and business functionality for networking via an active social platform and other online tools. 14 Google Maps, maps. google.com, most smartphones Map your current or future location with your phone's GPS or via input address for satellite views of a shipper's or receiver's location to determine your best access point and parking possibilities. 15 HopLoads, HopLoads.com This online load matching service is primarily for hopper-bottom and other agricultural freight, starting at $50 monthly. Company reps report they're working on apps. Texting "@?" to an Android phone enabled with Otter's Whereu@? app (Whereu-at.com) returns a link to the phone's mapped location, an alternative to live GPS tracking available via i360 and other services. 16 i360 app, Android, iOS The i360 app has proven to be a boon to more than one small-fleet owner-operator looking for round-the-clock GPS tracking of power units to serve customer/fleet management purposes, such as with more accurate arrival times. Also, driver spouses have found it useful in emergencies. 17 Internet Truckstop, truckstop.com; ITS Trucker for Android, iOS The "first load board on the Internet," ITS also offers access to partner freight factors integrated into their service, as well as broker credit ratings, business software and more. Some brokers have used the company to build custom apps exclusive to their carrier networks. 18 J.J. Keller's Encompass, jjkellerservices.com, Android, iOS The basic version of this software, combined with an in-truck module and cloud-based storage, turns Apple iPhones/iPads and many Android smartphones and tablets into electronic onboard recorders for hours of service compliance. Three subscription levels include increasing levels of back- office functionality. 19 KeepTruckin, KeepTruckin.com, Android, iOS The 2013 introduction of this app and attendant dispatching tools, both free, marks Google Ventures' entrance into the computer-assisted logging game by investing in the startup that launched the software. Like BigRoad (see listing), KeepTruckin is a computer-assisted log, not an electronic logging device conforming to federal definitions. 20 Livestock Network, LivestockNetwork.com Sister load board to BulkLoadsNow, the Livestock Network hosts load postings for livestock haulers. Membership starts at $35 monthly. 21 MyGauges, mygauges.com Owner-operator accounting and business management software designed by trucking radio host and longtime small-fleet owner Kevin Rutherford. FuelGauges offer free Web-based mileage, maintenance and other tools, while ProfitGauges ($19 monthly) enables more involved accounting tools. Visit OverdriveOnline.com, search "OneMorePallet.com," to check out the 2013 video that introduced the service. 22 One More Pallet, OneMorePallet.com This online partial load- matching service markets itself to small shippers and less-than-truckload carriers looking to fill space on the trailer. Using a Priceline- style pricing model, shippers post loads and what they'd like to pay. Carriers then can negotiate online or via more direct contact. 23 Partners in Business, OverdriveOnline.com/PIB The Overdrive / ATBS coproduction Partners in Business is a comprehensive manual written for prospective and existing owner-operators and independents. At the website, you'll find free sample chapters and videos of live seminars featuring trucking radio host Kevin Rutherford. 47% 35% 14% 6% 2% 38% DO YOU USE ANY OF THESE ONLINE SOCIAL NETWORKING RESOURCES?
