Brown-Forman has launched Collingwood, a new premium Canadian whisky. The brand uses fine Canadian grains, pure spring water from Ontario’s Georgian Bay and a hand-crafted, Maplewood mellowing process, the company says. The whisky is triple distilled and then matured in white oak barrels. In a unique finishing step, the whisky rests with toasted Maplewood to complete its smooth character. Initially available in Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana and Texas, more markets will be added throughout 2011, the company says. Collingwood is 80 proof with a suggested retail price of $26.99 for a 750 ml bottle. Effen, the superpremium Dutch vodka, has launched an unusual flavored line extension: Effen Cucumber. Made from Dutch wheat, Effen Cucumber also features the fresh essence of vine-ripened cucumbers, the company says. Effen Cucumber joins the regular Effen as well as Effen Black Cherry and Effen Dutch Raspberry flavors. Suggested retail price is $29.99. The launch includes Eristoff Original (80 proof); Eristoff Red (40 proof), featuring the taste and aroma of sloe berries and raspberry; and Eristoff Black (40 proof), which highlights flavors of dark, wild berries.
