[Suzaku means "guardian of the South," referring to the mythological Japanese name for the Vermillion bird.] Suzaku combines fresh spring water, yeast, koji and fi ne rice, which is then fermented at a low temperature. The result, according to the company, is a fruity aroma with notes of pear, honeydew and pineapple. The taste is smooth with a creamy body leading to a light fruit fi nish. It complements a range of foods, and should be consumed slightly chilled or at room temperature. Suzaku is available nationwide in the 720 ml and 300 ml sizes with a suggested retail price of $24.99 (720 ml). 2 Hahn Family Wines located in the Santa Lucia Highlands (SLH) appellation of Monterey County, has announced new packaging and positioning for its SLH Estate Wines. The most notable change is the prominent SLH on the label, highlighting the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation for both the Hahn 2012 SLH Pinot Noir ($35 suggested retail) and Hahn 2012 SLH Chardon- nay ($25). Other adjustments include changing Hahn's emblematic rooster from red to a gold foil. ["Hahn" in German means "rooster."] The 2012 SLH Pinot Noir of- fers soft tannins along with plum and cherry aromas and fl avors. The 2012 SLH Chardonnay is rich and layered, with notes of apple, mango and buttered toast. 3 Doña Paula Wines today announced the launch of the Doña Paula 2012 Black Edition Red Blend from Mendoza, Argentina, under the brand's Estate tier of wines. This red blend joins a line-up of four varietals from the Estate tier, including Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Torrontés, all grown and produced in Argentina. The Red Blend is comprised of 60% malbec, 37% cabernet sauvignon and 3% petite verdot, offering a well-balanced, complex wine with tastes of plum, spice and red pepper. Imported and marketed in the U.S. by Trinchero Family Estates, Doña Paula 2012 Black Edition Red Blend is available nationally at a suggested retail price of $14.99. 4 Svedka has introduced two more fl avors to its line of vodka and fl avored vodkas. Svedka Mango Pineapple blends the tastes of Filipino mangoes and pineapple fl avors, while Svedka Strawberry Lemonade combines strawberry and lemonade fl avors. The new expressions are now available nationwide in a variety of sizes, varying from market to market: 50 ml (suggested retail $1.99), 375 ml ($6.99), 750 ml ($12.99), 1 liter ($16.99) and 1.75 liter ($21.99). 5 MillerCoors has debuted Miller Fortune, which the company says was developed to be consumed during spirits occasions, even suggesting that it be consumed in a rocks glass.
