The trees were planted in 2008 on a 5- by 12-foot spacing. James, 21, has been working for a couple of years with his father, Mike Zingler, who started farm- ing in 1989 when he was 22 years old. Today, the family has 350 acres of apples along with some peaches, apricots, plums, sweet cherries, strawber- ries, and raspberries. The Zinglers are members of the Next Big Thing coop- erative in Minnesota, and Mike is a part owner of Lake Ridge Fruit Company, LLC, and its sub- sidiary, Lake Ontario Fruit Company, which has an apple packing and storage facility near Albion, New York. I always look forward to the beautiful, vibrant photography which highlights the issue's theme and gives light to the corresponding segment of our industry. The cover of the March 1, 2014 issue is great! Although it was probably unintentional, the hardware on the end posts (the square pieces with blue inserts) is one of the products that our com- pany Gripple, Inc., sells into the industry. For us, it feels like we got a "cover shot" as well. I would like to arrange a way to order a few more copies for myself, and maybe figure out if I could get a copy that doesn't have the address box on it (so that it can be framed). Thank you.
