SECURITY SYSTEMS NEWS JUNE 2011 www.securitysystemsnews.com MONITORING 33 Envysion’s Managed and Hosted Video Summit Networking, new services, partnership opportunities abound By Daniel Gelinas BOULDER, Colo.—Managed video as a service (MVaaS) provider Envysion on April 25 announced its second annual Managed and Hosted Video Summit, which the com- pany says will bring together managed and hosted video players, industry partners, thought leaders and investors to share ideas, shape the emerging market and drive the success of the segment. The second annual Managed and Hosted Video Summit will be held June 6-7 at the St. Julien hotel here. Though the summit overlaps a bit with ESX (being held in Charlotte, N.C. from June 6-10 for association meetings, and from June 7-9 for the actual show), Envysion vice president of product & marketing Carlos Perez says he doesn’t see any problems so far with attendance. “Last year was a sold-out event with 50 attendees and registration is strong again this year,” Perez said, noting the company had expanded the summit to accommodate 75 attendees this year. “We do have a num- ber of attendees who are attending both [our event and ESX] and flying direct to Charlotte on Tuesday after the close [of the Summit].” ESX is also on track to be bigger than last year with attendance up. WebTech is an appli- cation that allows tech- nicians to receive ser- vice/installation tickets electronically while out in the field. The app enables techs to get a list of pending service tickets, view service his- tory, create a needed parts lists, type a sum- mary of service calls, put accounts on and off test, as well as capture signatures and complete tickets, according to Ferro. The app is available for any web-enabled smart device. Similar in nature to WebTech, Mobile Virtual Operator allows in-the-field techs to test the zones and to receive instan- taneous status updates without having to call the central station and speak with an operator, Ferro said. The app can also be used to put accounts on and off test and to verify zone descriptions. Mobile Virtual Operator is cur- rently only available for the iPhone. Micro Key recently partnered with CSAA on a membership promotion, which finds the central station software company offering to pay a year’s membership to any new Millennium customers. Siemens Industry director and segment head for managed security services Phil Atteberry is attending for a second time this year. Siemens Industry has a CSAA Five Diamond monitor- ing center. “It struck me as unique in the fact that it was bringing people together to talk about the managed and hosted video market. There isn’t a lot out there for colleagues to get together and talk about how to bring this new segment forward,” Atteberry said. SSN Sell Your Business or Accounts To Us or Our Buyers – NOW!
