EquipmentWorld.com | June 2014 17 BOOST FUEL SAVINGS Bobcat has expanded its line of compact excavators in the 3-ton class with the Tier 4-compliant E32i and E35i, which feature conventional and zero tail swings, respectively. The 24.8-horsepower M-Series machines have a direct-inject, 1.7-liter natu- rally aspirated diesel engine that provides performance combined with fuel economy. The excavators deliver up to an 8 percent decrease in fuel consumption when operated in Eco Mode. Both machines feature a 10.2-foot dig depth and 6,968 foot-pounds of bucket digging force when equipped with the standard-arm confi guration, and they have 16.3 and 17.2 feet reach at ground level respectively. Additional features include a forward-mount instrumentation system designed for enhanced functionality and improved ergonomics; convenient fi ngertip activated control of the boom swing func- tion and auxiliary hydraulic circuits; X-Change attachment mounting system; auto-idle throttle and auto-shift travel. Options include an extendable telescoping arm and the hydraulic X-Change system. Bobcat has 13 attachments to fi t the E32i and E35i, includ- ing augers, breakers, plate compactors and grading buckets. PERFORM CHIPPING APPLICATIONS SAFELY Protect hands and feet during chipping operations with the ChipSafe Operator Safety Shield, available as an option on 12- through 18-inch-capacity Morbark Beever brush chippers. The system consists of plates mounted to the sides of the brush chipper's infeed chute used with special work gloves or wrist straps combined with ankle straps. If the operator's hands or feet enter the ChipSafe sensing zone in the infeed chute, ChipSafe stops the chipper's feeding mechanism before injury can occur. After the opera- tor removes his hands or feet from the area, the chipper's feeding mechanism can be restarted with a swipe of the operator's glove or wrist strap across a reset box located on the outside of the infeed chute. Available for M12D, M12R, M15RX, M15R, M18RX and M18R brush chippers, Morbark also plans to have fi eld kits available to retrofi t cur- rent model chippers by mid-June. AN E.P.I.C.
