2 www.truckerbuddy.org Boy Scout Oath/Promise On my honor, I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight. A Word from Trucker Buddy Trucker Buddy continues to look for new ways to deliver our message and to expand our mission of encouraging young students to excel in their school and home-life while improving the image of our industry. Last March, we invited Boy Scouts from the Louisville area to attend the 0LG$PHULFD7UXFNLQJ6KRZDQGWRHDUQWKHLU7UXFN7UDQVSRUWDWLRQDQG7UDIÀF Safety Merit Badges, while exploring the show and learning about our industry. Our over-riding premise is to uncover new and different ways by which young SHRSOHFDQH[SHULHQFHWUXFNLQJÀUVWKDQGDQGWRHQYLVLRQZKDWWKHLUIXWXUHZRUOG of trucking will look like. Given that our TB program does not operate with an endless vault of mon- ey - required for most all radio and television advertising campaigns - through our ERDUG·VSODQQLQJVHVVLRQVDQGYDOXDEOHLQSXWIURPRXUSDUWLFLSDWLQJGULYHUVZH discover new ways and methods of projecting our message and enticing more young people to learn and to be enthralled by careers in Trucking. The idea of EHFRPLQJLQYROYHGZLWKWKH6FRXWVVXUIDFHGDQGZDVLGHQWLÀHGDVDZLQQHU Long-time Trucker Buddy and Scout leader Matt Slovack had been using his truck to teach Scouts about the trucking industry while helping them achieve their new badges. Last fall, our initial goal was to invite-bring about 30 Scouts to the show -- a big goal that we strived for.
