C ustomer demand for Peterbilt liquefied natu- ral gas (LNG) trucks continues to run high as three customers recently placed large orders for the innovative alternative-fuel vehicles. Heckmann Corporation, headquartered in Palm Desert, Calif., focuses on using water solu- tions to enhance oil and shale gas exploration and production. The company has placed an order for 200 LNG-powered Moldel 367s as it transitions its fleet from traditional diesel vehicles to natual gas vehicles. In Boucherville, Quebec, Robert Transport has ordered 180 LNG-fueled Peterbilts. And Vedder Transport Ltd. of Abbotsford, British Columbia, recently purchased 50 LNG trucks. "Peterbilt is dedicated to engineering environmentally friendly solutions that meet customers' reliability and durability expectations," says Bill Jackson, Peterbilt general manager and PACCAR vice presi- dent. "Peterbilt LNG trucks provide fuel efficiency and environmental character- istics through a clean powered platform without jeopardizing performance. We are excited to partner with each of these innovative companies and help support their business objectives." Heckmann Corporation will use its Model 367 LNG vehicles to service its customers' natural gas wells and provide water handling services in conjunction with its pipelines and disposal wells. Robert Transport, one of Canada's largest for-hire carriers, cites reduced operating costs and a minimized carbon footprint as reasons supporting its pur- chase of the LNG trucks.
