FIRST CLASS 21 Peterbilt News D emand is high for the Peterbilt Smart- Nav, a PACCAR-proprietary naviga- tion and business technology system for Peterbilt Class 5-8 commercial vehicles, the company reports. SmartNav is offered across the full Peterbilt line-up -- standard on all Platinum and Premium interior offer- ings and Peterbilt's family of hybrid vehicles. It is optional on other Peterbilt interiors. "The number of specifications calling for the SmartNav system continues to grow as customers are demanding telemat- ics integration within the trucking industry," says Bill Jackson, PACCAR vice president and Pe- terbilt general manager. "As the innovative leader in commercial vehicles, diagnostics monitoring and back office func- tionality, Peterbilt's goal is to provide customers options to improve op- erator and vehicle performance to meet their business objectives." Designed for the trucking industry, the SmartNav system contains a navigation ap- plication that provides truck specific rout- ing maps that factor in trucking parameters, including bridge heights and weight restric- tions, which is beneficial across all market applications. The in-dash, technology sys- tem utilizes a high-resolution, 7-inch touch panel display for drivers to easily and safely use while traveling. Peterbilt's Extended Day Cab is now available for its complete lineup of Class 8 vehicles. Customers now have the option to expand the length of their day cab by an additional 10 inches and receive nearly six inches of added head room. "Peterbilt's Extended Day Cab is ideal for customers who require a larger operating environment and increased maneuverability," says Landon Sproull, Peterbilt chief engi- neer. "With the large standard rear window, the extended cab also pro- vides superb visibility, making it op- timal for Vocational, Heavy Haul and Pick-Up & Delivery applications." Additionally, seat recline is doubled to 23 degrees, and there are four inches of added space between the steering wheel and the seat. Extended Day Cab Expands Comfort Zone
