JULY 2014 14 THE JOURNAL Members of the manufactured and modular housing industries gathered today at an awards luncheon to recognize individuals and companies for outstanding achievements. The National In- dustry Awards, presented during the 2014 Na- tional Congress and Expo for Manufactured and Modular Housing, recognized the highest achiev- ers from all sectors of the manufactured and mod- ular housing industries. "These award winners are leading the way in providing outstanding products, value, customer service, creative solutions and state of the art homes that today's homebuyers desire. They are being recognized today for their leadership, vi- sion and dedication in enhancing and moving the manufactured and modular housing industries for- ward," said MHI President & CEO Richard Jen- nison. The winners of the "Land-Lease Community of the Year" and "Retail Sales Center of the Year" categories submit entries that are judged by an in- dependent panel of professionals made up of rep- resentatives from academia, planning, community development, realtor, homebuilding and market- ing professions. Awards are given in four regional areas of the country. The "Land-Lease Community of the Year" en- tries were judged based on a written statement supplied by the entrant, community aesthetics, marketing materials, site plan of the community, community and industry involvement, and the lease and covenants. The independent panel of judges selected the following communities to re- ceive awards: Land-Lease Community of the Year Awards (Northeast/Mid-Atlantic) – The Fairways at Mays Landing, Mays Landing, NJ (South) – Schalamar Creek Golf & Country Club, Lakeland, FL (Midwest) – WeatherStone Village, Kalamazoo, MI (West) – Prairie Greens, Frederick, CO Retail Sales Center of the Year Awards The "Retail Sales Center of the Year" award en- tries were judged based on an entry statement, management philosophy, retail center aesthetics, marketing materials and community and industry involvement. The inde- pendent panel of judges selected the following re- tailers: (Northeast/Mid-Atlantic) – Oakwood Homes, Glen Allen, VA (South) – Synergy Homes, Statesville, NC (Midwest) – Clayton Homes, Georgetown, KY (West) – Advantage Homes, San Jose, CA DESIGN AWARDS The following awards, bestowed by MHI and the National Modular Housing Council (NMHC), recognize excellence and encourage innovation in manufactured and modular home design and production. This year's winners have shown great leadership and commit- ment to the industry over the last year.
