ON THE Shelf 1 Heaven Hill Distilleries, producers of Evan Williams, has launched the summer-focused Evan Williams Kentucky Slush, a pre-mixed cocktail made with real Evan Williams Bourbon and the natural fl avors of lemon- ade, orange juice and sweet tea. It can be frozen, poured or blended, the company says, and is best served frozen in the bottle or any personal container, blended with ice for an instant frozen Bourbon Slush, or simply poured straight on the rocks. It is available in select markets through August in a 1.75 liter PET bottle suitable for storage in the freezer. It is intended to be merchandised and displayed within the bourbon aisle using the POS materials made available, either on the shelf or as part of a fl oor display. All marketing materials, from case cards to posters and bottle neckers, use the tagline "For Seriously Refreshing Bourbon…Just Chill." Evan Williams Kentucky Slush is bottled at 25 proof, with an average national suggested retail price for the 1.75 liter bottle of $14.99. 2 Francis Ford Coppola Winery has launched Gia by Gia Coppola, a new wine brand created by Gia Coppola, Francis's granddaughter. The new label includes three distinct varietals: a Frizzante Chardonnay, a Pinot Grigio and a Pinot Noir. Gia Frizzante Chardonnay is a lightly sparkling, effervescent wine with lively pear, pineapple and citrus notes. The Pinot Grigio features bright acidity, a touch of sweetness and a lingering fi nish of fresh fruit. And the Pinot Noir is a balanced wine with tastes of strawberries and raspberries, with pomegranate and a hint of peach. All three have a suggested retail price of $13.99. 3 Noting the 75 th anniversary of the Crown Royal brand, Diageo has just released a singular, limited-edition line extension: Crown Royal Monarch 75 th Anniversary Blend. Created by Master Blended Andrew Mackay, the new iteration combines hand-picked whiskies from the brand's extensive stock, and is a balanced spirit that features tastes of vanilla, caramel, dried fruits and rich toffee, with soft spice. Crown Royal Monarch 75 th Anniversary Blend comes in a gold and silver carton with a magnetic enclo- sure. The silver embroidered bag with gold accents is a variation on the purple bag identifi ed with the brand. The bottle is taller and broader than Crown Royal Deluxe and boasts etched detailing and a gold crown cap. Crown Royal Monarch 75 th Anniversary Blend is an 80 proof and has a suggested retail price of $75 for a 750 ml bottle. 4 Agave Loco Pepper Cured Tequila has debuted a new bottle design, which features darkened glass to protect the pepper fl avors inside. Agave Loco is a 100% agave reposado tequila that is infused with the oils of six different varieties of pepper to provide a sweet and spicy taste experience, giving consumers the taste of jalapeno, serrano and habanero peppers without overwhelming them with heat. 5 Patron has just released a new line of tequilas – Roca Patron Silver (90 proof), Roca Patron Reposado (84 proof) and Roca Patron Anejo (88 proof) – produced entirely from the labor-intensive, centuries-old tahona process. Made from 100% Weber blue agave, the line is handcrafted and higher proof than the corresponding iterations of the core brand. The Roca Patrón line of tequilas is sweeter, earthier and more vegetal – with distinctive notes of roasted agave – than other Patrón offerings, with more complexity and slightly less citrus, pepper and fruit.
