18 BRAVA MAGAZINE | AUGUST 2014 THRIVE STYLE+BEAUTY SUPER NATURAL Mix up your beauty routine with tried-and-true natural recipes from local artisan Anita Sood's home kitchen using alternative Ayurvedic medicine— India's ancient holistic approach to wellness. HEALTHY MANE MIX Whole egg: 1 egg for short hair; 2 eggs for medium length; 3 eggs for long hair Approx. 1 Tbsp. unrefined coconut oil per egg Approx. ½ c. plain yogurt Approx. 2 ½ tsp. honey Whip it up: Mix ingredients until they have a smooth and slightly runny consistency. Apply to hair with a cotton ball and gather under a shower cap. Let mask sit for at least 45 minutes (mask will harden slightly). Shampoo off and enjoy a smooth, silky mane. Why it works: Egg strengthens hair while yogurt and honey nourish and moisturize. TIGHTER AND BRIGHTER MASK 1 Tbsp. egg white 1 tsp. turmeric 1 ½ tsp. honey 1 ½ tsp. lemon juice Whip it up: Mix all ingredients (amount for each ingredient can be adjusted for preference or skin type). Apply on freshly washed and exfoliated face. Let mask sit for 20 minutes then rinse and pat dry. Apply up to once a week for maximum effect. Why it works: Egg white firms the skin, turmeric helps fight acne, honey moisturizes and lemon juice brightens.
