Custom Rigs PRide & Polish 68 | Overdrive | August 2014 this month at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas. Ashley and his truck, "Double Take," have been on a hot streak since August 2012. The rig won Best of Show at the Great Ameri- can Trucking Show Pride & Polish in Dallas that year, qualifying him for the 2013 Overdrive's Pride & Polish National Championship judging round, where it won the Trucker's Choice National Championship. He's also picked up other Pride & Polish awards and was named Best of Show, first runner-up at this year's Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition. Manuel won Best of Show with his matching Peterbilt and flatbed at last year's 75 Chrome Shop Pride & Polish show, along with other awards at other Pride & Polish events. Ron Brubaker took the Working Bobtail trophy at the Fitzgerald event with his 1993 Peterbilt 379, while his son, Dan, claimed the Working Combo title with his Wilson livestock trailer and 2014 Peterbilt 389 Detroit-powered glider from Fitzgerald Glider Kits, whose sales and service location in Crossville, Tenn., hosted the show. In the Builders Class category, "American Trucker" TV host Robb Mariani won the Bobtail category with his recently completed "Low Patrol," a 1974 Ford W9000. Brian Davis won the Combo category with his 2005 Peterbilt 379 and matching Dan Brubaker owns and operates this 2014 Peterbilt 389 Detroit-powered glider from Fitzgerald Glider Kits. The truck and matching livestock trailer won Best of Show in the Working Combo category. It's one of six trucks in Brubaker's small fleet. His outfit hauls mostly hogs, and they do most of their custom work themselves. Ron Brubaker, Dan's father, is also an independent hog hauler. He's dubbed his truck "One of a Kind," though he says "Never Finished" may be a more appro- priate name for the 1993 Peterbilt. Brubaker's recently been reworking the interior with tile flooring and alligator- skin touches. The rig won Best of Show in the Working Bobtail category. Robb Mariani's recently unveiled 1974 Ford W9000 won 1st Place in the Builders Class, Bobtail category at the Fitzgerald show. See Page 80 for a full story on Mariani's truck.
