FYI Heaven Hill Distilleries has purchased the rights to the Admiral Nelson’s family of rums from Luxco. According to Luxco Chairman and CEO Donn Lux, the Admiral Nelson brand is the second-largest selling spiced rum in the U.S. with $40 million in sales last year. The Admiral Nelson family of rums is comprised of the flagship Admiral Nelson Spiced Rum, Admiral Nelson’s 101 Proof Spiced Rum, Coconut, Raspberry, Vanilla and the recently introduced Cherry flavor. Financial terms of the deal were not dis- closed….Rémy Cointreau USA is now representing Cutty Sark Scotch Whisky as part of an expanded distribution agreement with The Edrington Group; other Edrington brands Remy Cointreau USA represents in the The Manhattan Cocktail Classic, the annual five-day celebration of all things cocktail-related, kicked off its 2011 festival May 13 with its opening night Gala at The New York Public Library. An estimated 3,000 cocktail connoisseurs filled the marble corridors of this iconic New York City landmark, experi- encing more than 40,000 hand- crafted cocktails served by more than 100 members of mixology’s elite, accompanied by live musical performances, interactive art installations and hors d’oeuvres. U.S. include Highland Park, The Famous Grouse, Brugal Rum and The Macallan….Palm Bay International was appointed as exclusive U.S. agent for Fontanafredda, the producer of Barolo located in the heart of the Langhe in Piedmont, Italy…. Ascentia Wine Estates sold its 35,000- case-a-year Buena Vista Carneros wine brand to Boissett Family Estates, located in the Russian River Valley (no winery or vineyards were involved in the transaction). Ascentia also sold its Gary Farrell Winery to The Vincraft Group. No financial terms were revealed…. Vision Wine & Spirits has been named U.S. importer for Viña Undurraga, the line of Chilean wines.… Precept Wine Brands changed its company name to Precept Wine…. Pernod Ricard USA has debuted Absolut SF, the fifth in its series of limited-edition, city-inspired flavors. This version features a blend of grape, dragon fruit and papaya that lends itself to a variety of cocktails, the company says….Jess Stonestreet Jackson, who popular- ized Chardonnay in the U.S. in the early 1980s with his Kendall-Jackson winery, passed away recently at his Geyserville, CA, home after a long bat- tle with cancer. Following his initial success, Jackson went on to become one of the giants of the U.S. wine industry. He was 81….Tom Long was named CEO at MillerCoors. He had been President and Chief Commercial Officer at MillerCoors….Constellation Brands promoted Jay Wright, previously president of its North American division, to chief oper- ating officer of Constellation Brands…. Freixenet USA named Eva Bertran to the position of Vice President, Marketing. Bertran assumes overall management of all marketing efforts for the company’s entire portfo- lio of imported and domestic wines….Patrón Spirits International appointed Phil Gervasi as Executive Vice President of Sales, North America….Pabst Brewing tabbed Bryan Crowley as the company’s Chief Marketing Officer….
