Mooresville, N.C.-based
hauler Scott Durant got
recognition for quick ac-
tion in June while on the
road in Hudson, Ohio,
after an accident that saw
two cars fl ip over onto
their roofs, the Hudson
Hub-Times reported.
Troopers on the scene
noted the driver of a
Mitsubishi perished in
the accident, one of two
vehicles "'overturned
in the north side of the
roadway near the state
Route 8 interchange,'
according to the highway
patrol," wrote reporter
Tim Troglen.
The crash happened
on the eastbound side
of the Ohio Turnpike,
while Durant, headed
westbound, saw "smoke
coming from the cars,"
Troglen wrote. Durant
parked his rig, jumped to
the eastbound side of the
freeway and helped the
occupants of the Taurus
get out of their over-
turned vehicle.
It's not something
Durant soon will forget,
as the whole affair lives on
in memory as "something
special to me."
As he recounted to
Troglen: "Let's hope, if I'm
ever in that situation, some-
one will take the time and
effort to help me."
Greetings from Jordan!
Driver Fares Shishani, who pull tanks in Jordan,
also happens to be a fan of Overdrive's Facebook
page, through which he sent greetings to Amer-
ican truck drivers. He says he hauls a regular
route from the Port of Aqaba on the Red Sea to
a distribution center about 400 kilometers away,
then makes the return trip.
Shishani says it's a three-day round, which
might well say something about trucking there.
That 800-km round trip equates to about 500
miles, roughly equal to running down from
Nashville to Atlanta and back – possible in a
single day if the stars align.
In any case, how's trucking where you are?

"There's nothing worse than after a long hard
day's driving to pull into a truck stop and fi nd full
spaces taken up with just a tractor or an RV."

better optimization of parking spaces by truck stops and the need for
expansion with the addition of more spots where space is available

Of
course
someone
bobtailing
has
the
right
to
park
in
a
space
designed
for
a
combination,
but
the
point
is
that
their
options
for
parking
are
in
fact
tenfold
compared
to
a
combo.
…
It
would
in
fact
be
common
courtesy
to
eliminate
every
option
available
to
you
if
you
don't
have
a
trailer
before
you
take
a
valuable
spot
from
a
combo.
