After years of planning, a year of construction, and a lot of work by the entire Maverick team, we were extremely proud to celebrate the Grand Opening of our newly expanded Driver Training Center back in late July. Although events like this are commonplace in the business world, the day was so perfect that I liken it to something that only happens once in a lifetime as a business owner. To say this day meant a lot to me, to my family and the company as a whole is a gross understatement. It's as though the stars aligned and reminded us of why we do what we do and that it really is all worth it. When we invited Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe to speak at our event, we were thrilled that he accepted. Then we were absolutely blown away when he went off script and told the capacity crowd exactly what he thought about Maverick as a company and me as the leader of this company. Words like, "absolutely the best at what they do" and "taking the low road has never been an option" - there's just no way to describe what those words and his genuine conviction in saying them meant to me. And for my wife, my children, my grandchildren and my father to be there to experience it all with me - it just honestly doesn't get any better than that. But, this building is more than a Grand Opening, it's more than fancy technology and more than additional room to train our drivers; it's about making a commitment to the future of this company and to the future of this industry. We are here to stay, we want our people to be proud of where they work, and we want to be able to provide the very best training to the very best drivers on the road. So for those that they were able to come celebrate with us – thank you. To Mother Nature – the unseasonably cool temperatures in mid-summer Arkansas sure did help. To those Mavericks that make things like this special day happen behind the scenes (you know who you are) - thank you doesn't even cover it. And finally, for those that were unable to make it, I hope this issue of The Maverick Messenger gives you a good picture of what the event was like and I hope you'll take a moment to watch the video we produced for it as well, so you can really take a look inside this fantastic, new facility. Or – even better – come see it in person. Our door is always open to our customers. MaverickMessenger 1 On Thursday, July 24th Mav- erick Transportation celebrated the expansion of their driver training center with an official grand opening. The unveiling, which adds more than 13,000 square feet to the previous facili- ty, took place inside the building's eight training bays and included speeches by Maverick's Chair- man and CEO Steve Williams, Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe, and FASTPORT co-founder and Hiring Our Heroes ambassador Jim Ray. The $4.5 million expansion brings the training center's total classrooms to seven and training bays to eight, where drivers live From the desk of Steve Williams, Chairman & CEO Steve Williams and Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe
