TODD MCCORKLE has another banner year There is absolutely no doubt who the man to beat is in the Dixie Section (club professionals from across Alabama and Northwest Florida): Todd McCorkle. McCorkle, who is the first assistant golf pro- fessional at Old Overton Club, repeated his feat of last year of qualifying for the PGA of Ameri- ca's Assistants Championship, Senior Champion- ship and PGA Professional Championship. In fact, he tees it up this morning in he first round of the PGA Assistants National Champi- onship in Port St. Lucie, Fla, and will return to the same venue in two weeks time for the PGA Senior National Championship. Last Thursday, in the Dixie PGA Professional Championship, at a very tough Pine Tree Coun- try Club layout, he accomplished three goals by winning the event by four shots after rounds of 71-73-144… • He qualified for the 48th PGA Professional National Championship, which will be played at The Philadelphia Cricket Club June 28-July 1, 2015. • He won the Dixie Section's Player of the Year for the second year running, with Shoal Creek's Blanton Tessin second.
