Just the Facts: Advanced Skin Care If you've ever just wondered what options are out there to help you look as young as you feel, sample these advanced treatments from local skin care experts By Ashley Finke Tired-looking eyes: As we age, a loss of fat and volume can make under eyes ap- pear saggy and dark. To perk them up, Wendy Jones of Lemke Facial Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery recommends Pellevé—a painless treatment with a quick recovery time that uses heat to tighten and thicken skin. Jones recommends three treatments over 90 days and one every six months afterward. Those pesky wrinkles: Though we can't escape them, we can try to zap them away. A new popular fix is a laser treatment called Broadband Light. Recommended by Dr. Ben Marcus of UW Transforma- tions and Jessie Pasquarello of Robertson Plastic Surgery: RENEW Skin Health & Laser, it uses specific, pulsating light wavelengths with noticeable results in just three to five days. The return of acne: When the problem you haven't seen since high school reap- pears, Anne Hill of Radiance Skin Thera- py & Laser Center recommends coupling a healthy lifestyle (yes, diet and exer- cise) with at-home topical creams. If the problem persists, prescriptions including ingredients such as Retin-A, benzoyl per- oxide and alpha hydroxy acid can help. For advanced acne, Hill recommends blue light laser treatment, microdermabrasion and chemical peels. Splotchy skin or facial hair: When you want to even the skin tone across your face or rid yourself of facial hair, Kris- tin Schwarz of Dean Essentials Skin Care Center recommends Intense Pulsed Light Therapy. A non-invasive treatment that is easy to recover from, it promises smooth results in multiple treatments over one to two weeks. Talk to your doctor to find out what's best for you!
