Auburn's Jimmy Brandt wins
Golf Channel's Big Break Myrtle Beach
Jimmy Brandt, who walked on at Auburn, made
the squad, but never played in any tournaments,
won the biggest event of his life when he defeated
Toph Peterson of Logan, Utah in Golf Channel's
reality TV show, Big Break Myrtle Beach Finale.
The nal 18-hole match aired on Golf Channel
Tuesday night and was played at Barefoot Resort
and Golf 's Fazio Course in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Here's a bio from the Golf Channel on Brandt,
31, followed by details of what his win means.
Jimmy Brandt was a late bloomer to the game
of golf.Unlike his fellow competitors on Big Break
Myrtle Beach who took up the game at young ages,
Brandt didn't get introduced to the game until age
15.
Baseball was his sport of choice, and it wasn't
until his sophomore year of high school that he
decided to give golf a try. Golf came fairly easy to
Brandt and he experienced success his rst two
years competing in high school.Unfortunately,
due to poor grades his senior year, he was not eli-
gible to play for his high school team, thus elimi-
nating any scholarship options for college.
Brandt followed his girlfriend – now wife – to
Auburn University. He walked on the golf team at
Auburn's Jimmy Brandt (left) defeated Toph Peterson (right)

Myrtle Beach.
