The fi eld tests are designed to prove the accuracy and reliability of the Walz Load Scanner for managing material volumes excavated and moved by truck. Initial reports indicate that the system provides very accurate reporting of actual carried volumes per truckload with increasingly accurate stockpile inventory tracking. These fi eld tests will track material loads for earth and crushed stone and are ex- pected to prove the exceptional benefi ts of cost savings and overall improved accuracies of incorporating the Walz Load Scanner to earthmoving projects versus a standard truck scale or manned survey. All Walz Load Scanners systems operate with the Payload Pro Operating System allowing for operations to run the system from a variety of platforms from tablet devices and touch screen kiosks, to standard laptops. This reporting software provides managers with real time data and tools to better manage their operation and make improved decisions to improve overall productivity and throughput. Critical data such as real-time stockpile inventories, material and truck load data, even cycle time data is tracked and reported through this software. Data can be stored and accessed remotely the company's web-based cloud system delivering access to managers from any location with an Internet connection on their smartphones or tablets. betterroads.com/?p=38176 Komatsu crawler dozer is Tier 4 Final emissions certifi ed Komatsu America's D155AX-8 crawler dozer has an operating weight of 89,300 pounds. Rated at 354 horsepower net, the D155AX-8 is powered by a Komatsu SAA6D140E-7 engine, which is EPA Tier 4 Final emissions certifi ed. Equipped with the KOMTRAX technology, data such as fuel levels, DEF levels, operating hours, location, cautions and maintenance alerts are relayed to the web application for analysis. A new Operator Identifi cation System reports key operating information for multiple operators and a new Auto Idle Shutdown function helps reduce idle time as well as operating costs. The machine also is equipped with a 12.3-cubic-yard SIGMADOZ- ER blade, which gives the machine a high-blade capacity. betterroads. com/?p=38178 Atlas Copco single-drum soil rollers Atlas Copco's CA1300 and CA1500 single-drum soil rollers for high maneuverability and visibility on parking lot, road, util- ity pipe and street projects feature the manufacturer's exclusive Active Bouncing Control (ABC), a cross-mounted Tier 4 Interim or Tier 4 Final engine and steel blades that improve compaction, safety and visibility. The engines on the CA1300 and CA1500 are cross-mounted. The rollers' hydraulic pumps are also in line with the engine and because the engines are cross-mounted rather than parallel to the frame, they provide optimal weight distribution and contribute to the units' minimal footprint. The CA1300 features a Tier 4 Final, 75-horsepower Kubota die- sel engine, and the CA1500 uses a Tier IV Interim, 100-horsepower Cummins diesel engine. Both have top-mounted, cool air intakes with side vents that combine with the ejector exhaust outlet to minimize engine noise and prevent dust from being sucked into the engine compartment, which is a common occurrence on soil compaction sites. The rollers' high-static linear loads make them useful for compacting a range of materials from clay to rock fi ll. betterroads. com/?p=38180 Bobcat Zero-Tail Swing Tier 4 compact excavator Bobcat Company's Tier 4-compliant Zero Tail Swing (ZTS) E20 compact excavator is a 13.9-horsepower model features a retractable undercarriage, unmatched cab comfort, increased uptime protection, attachment readiness and an ease of serviceability. The E20 replaces the 324 excavator model and features an automatic slew brake. Avail- able as options are auto-shift drive and a fi ngertip auxiliary boom swing control. The E20 has a maximum reach of 14 feet, dig depth of 8 feet, 6 inches and a dump height of 8 feet, 8 inches. When the compact excavator's retractable rubber track undercarriage is fully retracted, the overall width is reduced from 53-1/2 inches to 39 inches. The E20's undercarriage is 5-1/2 inches longer than the 324 excavator model. The roomier cab has an easy-to-open front window and lower portal window, along with a redesigned heater are in- cluded with the optional enclosed cab. betterroads.com/?p=38182
